Testing Out Colors for the Living Room

We will be painting the living room/entry area soon and I think that we have decided to go with Bejamin Moore's "Bahaman Sea Blue".

What do you all think?

It does a great job covering up the maroon and it is such a happy color. Plus I am so sick of the ugly white/red wall. This may be a project for this upcoming weekend.

Pics to come soon.

Prelude

Thanks for reading this, though it's probably a waste of your time, but I am grateful you are here.
The year 2010 has been a very busy year for us; we had our second child, my wife went back to school, and we bought our first house.

For the past 8 years I have been renting a smallish 2 bedroom trailer from my dad. When it was just me, that was more than enough. When I married my lovely wife Jessi, I lost a little storage space, but it was still enough. When we had our first child (Aubrey), I lost my office and things started to get a bit cramped. When we found out that we were having another baby (Stella), we decided that it was time to upgrade.

We started our journey to home ownership in January and by with the help of my realtor/cousin, we found out that we qualified for an awesome first-time home buyer program and shortly found a house that was in our price range and bigger than we currently needed to allow us room to grow. Mechanically the house was sound, it was in astounding condition for a house its age, with the exception of a few issues that the sellers agreed to fix.

While the house was sound, the decor was condemnable . This poor house has been through years of bad style sense or maybe it was just complete indifference to style. There are 4 different carpets in this house, the worst is the 70's orange carpet in 2 of the bedrooms, followed by the faded & stained early 90's pink in the great room, indoor/outdoor carpet in my office and the rest of the house has well worn beige probably installed in the mid 80s. The living room was painted top half in white with a hideous floral wall paper border in the center with maroon paint on the bottom. One wall is faux brick paneling, while another room (my office) the real brick wall is covered by wood paneling. Aubrey's room, the "Pink Room" as we call it, is painted Pepto-pink OVER the wallpaper! Stella's room had ugly falling apart woven type wallpaper and when we removed it, we were greeted with a hideous color somewhere between "Split-Pea Soup Green" and "Masking Tape Beige". None of the colors go together at all. When we bought this house, I was looking past all of that, looking at what it could be. We have started the process and I will use this blog to go over the changes that we do to improve this place and maybe even pepper it with a few little craft projects and how-to's.

Please bookmark my page and come back from time to time to check out my latest updates. And since I have waited nearly 5 months to start this, I will be writing some posts about what we have already done.

Here is a quick video tour of our house...
